Scott Reding MA, CDP, LMHC
How I work with chemically dependent clients:
My name is Scott Reding and I'm licensed in the State of Washington as a Chemical Dependency Professional and a Mental Health Counselor. I work with youth and adults that seek counseling for substance abuse problems, mental health concerns and a variety of challenges in life. I put significant effort into engaging all of my clients and emphasize safety, trust, and trying to create a sanctuary, if you will, to talk openly and honestly. My theoretical approach to counseling includes the Rogerian approach, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (Stages of Change), and cognitive and behavioral therapies. My framework for understanding and working with addiction is based on current research in the nueroscience of relapse and recovery. Additionally, I make an effort to focus on underlying systems, such as nutrition, sleep, and mental health concerns, that may support the recovery process.
Clinical Experience
Prior to starting Integrative Counseling Services, I gained 5 years of clinical experience working in large community mental health and addiction treatment facilities. I've worked with youth, families, and adults strugging with mental health and addiction problems.
Education
I graduated from the Business Honors College at Arizona State University where I also minored in Women's Studies. I attended graduate school at Eastern Michigan University and completed a Master of Arts in Community Counseling.
